Government Scraps Company Tax Cut in Budget
The government had promised to use revenue from its new mining tax to drop the corporate tax rate from 30 per cent to 29 per cent from July 1. However, Treasurer Wayne Swan announced in the budget that the government would walk away from its previous promise. The scrap is forecast to save the budget $4.7 billion over the next four years.
