Client in Focus: A2B Trailers Erina Posted on June 8, 2020
At AdviceCo, we support many small and medium sized businesses to financially structure themselves for growth. We get our greatest job satisfaction from seeing business owners like Eamon and Kate Corless, husband-and-wife owners of A2B Trailers at Erina, strike the ultimate balance between business security and lifestyle happiness…
A2B Trailers supplies products from box trailers for domestic use, to specialised trailers for commercial machinery carrying, portable office buildings/security huts for the construction and mining industries, and mobile amenities for events. They also give regular trailer maintenance advice and supply parts.
Eamon and Kate started the business in 2016 after working for a time in the industry, and realising the potential to apply their knowledge, experience and energy to a business venture of their own.
Their business attitude and mindset saw steady pre-COVID business growth that has stood them in good stead at this uncertain time. We’ve noticed these consistent elements to their approach:
Unwavering business purpose:
When they started the business in 2016, Kate and Eamonn anchored their work in quality. From this, they could confidently deliver the most important elements of their product offering – safety, reliability and innovation. When the environmental disruption of COVID hit the market, they have stayed true to this purpose and maintained customer reliability.
Willingness to seek and apply advice:
Every decision made by Eamon and Kate is based on factual information and hard data. They seek a broad and professional perspective. In a financial sense, they have efficient accounting software in place so when we meet with them, we can pin point what’s working and change what’s not. This was effective recently with the JobKeeper program and government stimulus measures to help support them through COVID.
Capitalise on opportunities:
Their research and relationships have presented them with opportunities that they could confidently take when they arose. This has resulted in the introduction of:
- The first range of European trailers into Australia with complete overrun mechanically braked systems, that are 100% certified and compliant on Australian roads.
- A local specialist Australian brand into the mix which has helped to boost the local community and give back to Australian businesses.
- Regular communication with hire/fleet companies and relevant businesses regarding maintenance of equipment and optimum fleet performance.
- High quality disability toilet systems, we have adapted an existing model to suit the Australian community and NDIS providers.
We’ve worked with Kate and Eamon to provide timely information regarding to legislation changes, share and apply financial models with proven success and to project areas of risk and opportunity in both the short and long term.
When asked what their key focus is right now, they responded: “To follow our SWISH principles, ‘Selling With Integrity and Selling Honestly’, to enjoy life, educate when we can and promote the Central Coast lifestyle.”
