Business in Focus – JobsOnTheCoast.com.au Posted on October 9, 2018

JobsOnTheCoast.com.au took its latest step mid-year towards becoming the complete jobs website when it launched SkillsOnTheCoast.

The jobs website was started three years ago by Tim O’Brien with the philosophy that many commuters on the NSW Central Coast wanted to work where they live. In that time, many thousands of jobs have been posted on the site, at times peaking at more than 250 in some weeks.

Chris Holstein (Member for Gosford), Karen McNamara (Federal Member for Dobell),
David Smeeth (JobsOnTheCoast.com.au)

SkillsOnTheCoast.com.au was launched in July as an extension of the service to allow job seekers and those looking to advance their careers to anonymously post a CV from which potential employers could “shop” for their ideal candidates.

The sites have now expanded to the Hunter Region and to Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

David Smeeth, the website’s Director of Partnerships and Customer Relations, says the websites allow cost-effective listings of vacancies, a portal for listing skills and experience for jobseekers and routine news and regular newsletters to subscribers detailing and analysing aspects of the local jobs market.

“Our aim is to make it a one-stop shop for jobs across the region, whether you’re looking to hire, looking to start work or advance a career, considering a course to gain or update work skills or to just want to keep a finger on the pulse of the Central Coast labour market,” he says.

The site has more than 8,500 social media followers, 7,300 email subscribers and during the last financial year, recorded almost 660,000 page views and published more than 2,700 jobs. “The popularity of the site in such a relatively short time is proof that the formula is what people have been looking for.”

Mr. Smeeth said many major employer and training groups over the three sites had joined as business partners which further added to the critical mass of jobs information on the sites – “The likes of Hunter TAFE judged it was important to have a presence on the site because it was where people were going to make career choices and advancement decisions, as well as focal point for many, many employers.”

JobsOnTheCoast also provided specific services to businesses wanting to recruit, whether it was head-hunting or the primary selection management of applicants. We are trying to be all things to people when it comes to jobs – finding them, filling them and displaying them.”

The website can be viewed at www.jobsonthecoast.com.au and businesses that want to find out more can contact David on 0419 168 177 or by email on david.smeeth@jobsonthecoast.com.au
