After pushing trolleys at Franklins from the age of 14, Michael started his own lawn mowing business which kept him occupied whilst he attended Uni. As a second job, Michael worked part-time at the local pharmacy as well as running the lawn mowing business until he completed his degree at Sydney University. Fortunately for him, Michael’s boss at the time was the National Pharmacy Guild President who’s focus was always on training and professionalism.



Michael’s interest in helping people and his goal to own his own business inspired him to pursue a career in pharmacy – “15 years ago I purchased my first small pharmacy at Minchinbury. 2 years later I needed more of a challenge and ended up in Umina Beach Soul Pattinson Chemist with a Post Office. 8 years later I purchased an Amcal pharmacy 100 meters down the road. And 2 years ago, I purchased Terrigal Pharmacy. I sold the Minchinbury store about 12 years ago.”



There has recently been a change to the way Medicare pays pharmacies. In the past year, more than 350 pharmacies have gone into receivership; These are pharmacies that may not be adapting to the changes so well. Michael and Gianna have put a great deal of energy and training into their staff so they fully understand the changes to the industry and what they must do to keep ahead of the game. In the past 12 months, the Pharmacy industry has seen huge change – Michael and Gianna have done their utmost to train and have adapted to come out on top, being a great achievement for the team. 



Since joining Robson Partners in 2011, Michael and Gianna have been able to expand their business significantly, transitioning to the new Xero accounting system; improving their marketing strategies and implementing a new ‘PUSHBI system, allowing managers to enter data weekly so that Michael can monitor the trends live at any time. – “The best thing about Troy is his ability to see things from a totally different angle. He is always looking outside the square and is constantly offering new business solutions for us. Troy has a very positive energy and my staff and I are always feeding off this energy. His fresh ideas allow him to be a great problem solver.”

Michael’s life goals are to spend time to looking after his wife and four children while continuing to move forward in business. There are currently no plans to purchase another pharmacy… but you never know when another challenge will come along.
