Client in Focus – Wyee Nursery Posted on October 9, 2018

The family owned business was an existing tiny nursery and fruit shop, originally purchased by Fred and Cheryl Roberts in 1991.

In 1997, an opportunity came up for Adrian Roberts, Fred’s brother, to become the Landscape Yard Manager, and eight years later, Adrian bought out Fred’s business partner.

Now owned and run by brothers Fred and Adrian Roberts, Wyee Nursery has become and strives to remain the preferred Garden Centre for the people of the Central Coast and Lake Macquarie.

Major changes and restructuring has taken place over the last 10 years, including the addition of an award winning café and gift shop, now successfully employing 23 staff.

Wyee Nursery joined the 10X coaching program in 2010. One of the biggest challenges the nursery faced was ensuring the business ran well in the absence of the Directors.

Adrian explains how 10X helped in assisting setting up a senior management team “we have been able to put in place an upper layer of management and with the help of 10X we have implemented budgets, and have been able to track and measure our results”.

Nichole comments “the team has responded well to the challenges with the management team enjoying a greater level of responsibility in their support role to the Directors”.

The businesses main goal over the next 12 months is growth a consolidation.

Wyee Nursery actively supports our local community through donations and sponsorships every year.  They support the local Community Gardens and Garden Clubs by attending meetings and providing complimentary garden talks by one of their qualified horticulturist staff.

Adrian also adds “Working with Troy and our management team to strive to ensure the continued success of our business has been very rewarding. The 10X coaching program has resulted in a better work/life balance.   And the confidence the business can run well in the absence of the Directors. Troy and his team are very professional, positive and energetic.”

Wyee Nursery is working towards maintaining a successful business with opportunity for growth going forward.

The Nursery is open seven days a week and has an extensive range of plants and landscaping supplies, including friendly gardening advice from their qualified horticulturist and landscapers.
