Client in Focus: Galley Kitchens Posted on October 9, 2018
Galley Kitchens was started by Peter Ray in 1991.
After running a successful business with a Partner for many years Peter decided to go out on his own and the company grew from 4 Employees in a small factory to over 20 employees in the premises in Wyoming today.
In 2009, after 18 years of building up the company, Peter decided to retire and left the business to be run by his son Paul and daughter Liarne who have both been in the business since the beginning.
Liarne says, “The business is built on a good reputation that Dad paved the way for. That reputation seems to be well known and gives us a lot or repeat business and recommendations.”
Brother and Managing Director Paul agrees, “In the next 12 months we are targeting growth, and are working on revamping our showroom. We aim to become the most sought after kitchen manufacturer on the Central Coast.”
One of Galley’s key focus areas is to continue to invest time into its team.
This has been critical to success, “We have spent more time than ever on our people. Over the last 12-18 months the business has successfully changed the whole Sales Team to people who have great knowledge and people skills. We have made some steps towards the greater goal of a new showroom.” says Liarne.
The road has not been without challenges though, “Competition is growing on the Central Coast. This means our team are critical in delivering a great service. Costs such as Home Owners Warranty insurance are placing upward pressure on kitchens, which means, more than ever we need to be efficient, skilled and customer driven.”
Galley turned to its professional advisors, Robson Partners for support, “The Robson team have been involved in a large way during the transition from Dad to the successful running of the company with Liarne and myself.
Without the dedication, motivation, and positive input from Robson Partners, I know we would not be where we are today.”
In addition to their passion for inspiring kitchens, Galley is a supporter of the community, sponsoring many charities through golf and netball sponsorships.
Liarne explains further, “Definitely there has been a lot of mind shifts for both myself and Paul in our business. We feel a lot more able to make decisions and we have a stronger relationship together to make decisions and plan for the future.
I feel more than ever, that our team is ready to help make the company the best it can be.
The motivation and tools we have gained from David, Debbie and Troy have really made us a team, compared to what we had before.”
Paul describes the 2020 vision for Galley, “Our future goal is to get this company humming along. The next 10 years are exciting times and we want all our staff to share in the story.”
