This means that individual business directors can be held personally liable for unpaid GST from 1 April 2020. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is the DPN scheme?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The DPN was launched by the Government to\naddress underreporting by businesses on mandatory taxes and payments. Before 5\nFebruary, a business Director could be issued with a DPN for unpaid and\/or\nunderreported Pay as You Go (PAYG) or Superannuation Charge Guarantee (SCG).\nThe scheme now includes GST.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>When does it come into effect?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The ATO will pursue GST debts incurred from\n1 April 2020. PAYG and SCG commitments remain unchanged and ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who does it impact?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Business Directors. Personal liability\nmeans that the directors are now personally responsible for meeting the\nfinancial obligation of the related business GST.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What to do if you are ever issued with a\nDPN?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Call us to discuss how to have the DPN remitted.
